It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was returning from the Battle of Tabuk, he ordered the announcer on the way, and he made this announcement that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has taken the path of the mountain pass, no one should go on this path. Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) was in front of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) was behind him, when suddenly a group of people with their faces covered appeared on mounts, who surrounded Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) was behind, he began to strike at the faces of those mounts. When the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sensed danger, he told Hazrat Hudhaifa (may Allah be pleased with him) to stop the mount and got down. Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to descend from that mountain pass. Meanwhile, Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) also returned. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, "Ammar! Were you able to recognize those people?" He replied, "I recognized most of the mounts, but the people had covered their faces." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you know their intention?" He replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Their intention was to take the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and push him down from above." Then Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke harshly to a companion of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "I ask you by Allah, do you know how many men were in that mountain pass?" He said, "Fourteen." He said, "If you were also among them, they would have been fifteen, out of whom the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared three as excused, who said, 'By Allah! We did not hear the voice of the Holy Prophet's announcer, and we did not know what those people intended.'" Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I bear witness that the twelve men who remain are those who fight against Allah and His Messenger in both this worldly life and on the Day when witnesses will rise." Waleed says that Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated regarding this same expedition that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of the shortage of water, he told the people, and the announcer made this announcement that no one should go to the water before the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived there, he found some people already present who had reached there before him. On that day, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed and reproached them.

Abdullah bin Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) says that once I entered the house of Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) and found him in a pleasant mood. I thought to take advantage of this opportunity, so I asked him, "O Abu Tufail! Who were those people whom the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed and reproached?" He was about to tell me about them when his wife Saudah said, "O Abu Tufail! Stop. Do you not know that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O Allah! I am also a human being, so if I have ever invoked a curse upon any Muslim, then make it a means of purification and mercy for that person.'"

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) (mentioning the construction of the Ka'bah during the time of ignorance) that when the construction of the House of Allah began (the Quraysh first completely demolished it and started rebuilding it with stones from the valley), people were carrying stones, among whom was also the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). (The Quraysh had kept it twenty cubits long.) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a woolen sheet, but during the carrying of stones, it became difficult to manage it, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed that sheet on his shoulder. At that moment, someone called out, "Cover your private part," so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw down the stone and wrapped himself in his sheet. Peace and blessings be upon him.

Someone asked Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him), "Have you seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes!" The questioner asked, "Did you also speak with him?" He replied, "No, but I saw him while he was going to such-and-such a place. At that time, Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and other companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were with him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reached a spacious house and had the door opened. When the door was opened, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) entered inside. I also went inside with him. There was a sheet in the middle of the house. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'Lift this sheet.' The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) lifted the sheet, and from underneath it, a one-eyed boy came out. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, 'O boy! Stand up.' The boy stood up. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him, 'O boy! Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?' The boy said, 'Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?' This question and answer happened twice. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice, 'Seek refuge with Allah from his evil.'"

I asked, "What was the appearance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) like?" He replied, "The complexion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was fair, beautiful, and his body was well-proportioned."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Tufail (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw in a dream that I was in a region and some black and some white goats came to me. After a little while, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and drew one or two buckets, in which there was some weakness—may Allah forgive him. Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and the bucket became strong in his hand, and he filled the reservoir and gave water to those who came. I have not seen any strong man draw water better than Umar. And I interpreted this dream as follows: the black goats refer to the Arabs, and the white goats refer to the non-Arabs.
