بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَرْأَةِ فِي الدِّرْعِ وَالْخِمَارِ
Concession for women praying in a chemise and headscarf
Hadith Number: 322
حدثني حدثني يحيى، عن مالك، انه بلغه، ان عائشة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم" كانت تصلي في الدرع والخمار"
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) was informed that Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to pray in a shirt and with her head covered.

Hadith Number: 323
وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن محمد بن زيد بن قنفذ ، عن امه ، انها سالت ام سلمة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، ماذا تصلي فيه المراة من الثياب؟ فقالت: " تصلي في الخمار والدرع السابغ إذا غيب ظهور قدميها"
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her): "In how many clothes can a woman pray?" She replied: "In a khimar and a shirt, but the shirt should be so long that it covers the feet."

وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن الثقة عنده، عن بكير بن عبد الله بن الاشج ، عن بسر بن سعيد ، عن عبيد الله بن الاسود الخولاني ، وكان في حجر ميمونة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم،" ان ميمونة كانت تصلي في الدرع والخمار ليس عليها إزار"
Ubaidullah Khawlani, who was the adopted son of Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to pray wearing a shirt and a khimar (head covering), and she would not wear an izar (lower garment).

Hadith Number: 325
وحدثني، عن مالك، عن هشام بن عروة ، عن ابيه ، ان امراة استفتته، فقالت: إن المنطق يشق علي، افاصلي في درع وخمار، فقال: " نعم، إذا كان الدرع سابغا"
A woman asked Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair that it is difficult for me to tie an izar, can I pray in a shirt and head covering? Urwah replied that yes, when the shirt is quite large.
