Book: On the Explanation of Aqeeqah (Sacrifice for Newborn)
بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَقِيقَةِ
Chapter on what is reported regarding ‘aqiqah (sacrifice for newborn)
Hadith Number: 1053
حدثني يحيى، عن مالك، عن زيد بن اسلم ، عن رجل من بني ضمرة، عن ابيه ، انه قال: سئل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن العقيقة، فقال:" لا احب العقوق"، وكانه إنما كره الاسم، وقال: " من ولد له ولد، فاحب ان ينسك عن ولده، فليفعل"
It is narrated from a man of Banu Dhumrah, who heard from his father that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked about 'Aqiqah. He said: "I do not like 'Uquq," meaning he disliked this name, and said: "Whoever has a child born to him and wishes to offer a sacrifice on behalf of his child, let him do so."

وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن جعفر بن محمد ، عن ابيه ، انه قال: " وزنت فاطمة بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شعر حسن، وحسين، وزينب، وام كلثوم، فتصدقت بزنة ذلك فضة"
It is narrated from Muhammad Baqir that Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her) weighed the hair of Sayyiduna Hasan, Sayyiduna Husayn, Sayyida Zaynab, and Sayyida Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with them), and gave silver equal to its weight for the sake of Allah.

وحدثني، عن وحدثني، عن مالك، عن ربيعة بن ابي عبد الرحمن ، عن محمد بن علي بن الحسين ، انه قال: " وزنت فاطمة بنت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شعر حسن، وحسين، فتصدقت بزنته فضة"
It is narrated from Muhammad Baqir that Sayyida Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) weighed the hair of Sayyiduna Hasan and Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) and gave silver equal to its weight in charity for the sake of Allah.
