بَابُ الضَّحِيَّةِ عَمَّا فِي بَطْنِ الْمَرْأَةِ
Sacrifice for what is in the womb of a female animal
Hadith Number: 1071
It is narrated from Nafi that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Sacrifice is valid for two days after Eid al-Adha.

وحدثني، عن مالك، انه بلغه، عن علي بن ابي طالب ، مثل ذلك
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) also gave a similar instruction.

It is narrated from Nafi‘ that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) would not offer a sacrifice on behalf of a fetus in the womb.

قال مالك: الضحية سنة وليست بواجبة. ولا احب لاحد ممن قوي على ثمنها، ان يتركها
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Sacrifice is Sunnah, not obligatory. And it is not good for a person who can afford to buy a sacrifice to abandon it.
