Zaid bin Aslam, may Allah have mercy on him, says that during the time of the Fitnah of Harrah, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, came to Ibn Muti’. He had a cushion brought for him and welcomed him. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: I have only come to you to tell you two things which I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. I heard him say:“Whoever withdraws his hand from obedience (to the Imam), he will have no proof or argument for himself on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever separates from the community dies the death of ignorance (Jahiliyyah).”
