جُمَّاعُ أَبْوَابِ الْأَذَانِ وَالْإِقَامَةِ

(168) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَقْنُتُ دَهْرَهُ كُلَّهُ، وَإِنَّهُ إِنَّمَا كَانَ يَقْنُتُ إِذَا دَعَا لِأَحَدٍ، أَوْ يَدْعُو عَلَى أَحَدٍ.
Chapter 168: Clarification that the Prophet did not always perform Qunoot, but only when supplicating for or against someone
Hadith Number: 619
نا محمد بن يحيى ، نا ابو داود ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن سعد ، عن الزهري ، عن سعيد ، وابي سلمة ، عن ابي هريرة ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان لا يقنت إلا ان يدعو لاحد، او يدعو على احد، وكان إذا قال:" سمع الله لمن حمده"، قال:" ربنا ولك الحمد، اللهم انج" ، وذكر الحديث
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would only perform Qunoot Nazilah when he wanted to supplicate for someone or invoke against someone. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would say «سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ» , after saying «رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الحَمْدُ» , he would supplicate, "O Allah, grant (so-and-so) salvation." Then the entire hadith was narrated.

نا محمد بن محمد بن مرزوق الباهلي ، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله الانصاري ، حدثنا سعيد بن ابي عروبة ، عن قتادة ، عن انس ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان " لا يقنت إلا إذا دعا لقوم، او دعا على قوم"
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not recite Qunoot (continuously and always), except when he wished to supplicate for good for a people or to invoke against a people (then he would recite Qunoot).
