Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during this time, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in prostration and a few Quraysh were sitting around him. When ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu‘ayt came with the entrails of a camel and placed them on the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) could not raise his blessed head. Then Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came and removed it from his (peace and blessings be upon him) back, and invoked a curse upon the one who did this evil deed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated:O Allah! Seize this group of Quraysh—Abu Jahl bin Hisham, ‘Utbah bin Rabi‘ah, Shaybah bin Rabi‘ah, ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu‘ayt, and Umayyah bin Khalaf or Ubayy bin Khalaf (Imam Shu‘bah was uncertain)—with Your painful punishment.Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw these chiefs of Quraysh killed on the day of Badr and thrown into a well, except for Umayyah or Ubayy, whose joints were torn apart, so he was not thrown into the well.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer one day, and he took off his shoes and placed them on his left side. When the companions saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had taken off his shoes, they also took off their shoes. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished, he asked them: "What made you take off your shoes?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we saw you take off your shoes, so we also took off our shoes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(I only took them off) because a visitor (an angel) came to me and informed me that there was impurity on my shoes, so I took them off. Therefore, when any one of you enters the mosque, he should look at his shoes. If he sees impurity on them, he should rub them against the ground, and then he may pray in them."
