(337) بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ بِالْإِشَارَةِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ بِرَدِّ السَّلَامِ إِذَا سَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمُصَلِّي
337 Chapter: Permission to Respond to Salam in Prayer by Gesturing.
Hadith Number: 888
نا عبد الجبار بن العلاء ، حدثنا سفيان ، نا زيد بن اسلم ، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن عمر ، ح وحدثنا علي بن خشرم ، وابو عمار ، قال ابو عمار حدثنا سفيان ، وقال علي: اخبرنا ابن عيينة، عن زيد بن اسلم ، قال: قال ابن عمر دخل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مسجد قبا، ودخل عليه رجال من الانصار يسلمون عليه، فسالت صهيبا : كيف كان يصنع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا كان يسلم عليه وهو يصلي؟ قال:" كان يشير بيده" . قال ابو بكر: هذا حديث ابي عمار، زاد عبد الجبار، قال سفيان: قلت لزيد: سمعت هذا من ابن عمر؟ قال: نعم
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered the mosque of Quba, and some Ansari companions came to greet him. I asked Hazrat Suhaib how the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to reply to greetings while in the state of prayer. He said that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to reply with a gesture of his hand. Sufyan says: I asked Zaid bin Aslam, did he hear this narration from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)? He said, yes (he heard it).
