جُمَّاعُ أَبْوَابِ قِيَامِ الْمَأْمُومِينَ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ وَمَا فِيهِ مِنَ السُّنَنِ

(87) بَابُ تَطْوِيلِ الْإِمَامِ الرَّكْعَةَ الْأُولَى مِنَ الصَّلَوَاتِ لِيَتَلَاحَقَ الْمَأْمُومُونُ.
87| Imam prolonging the first unit so latecomers can join
Hadith Number: 1580
نا ابو كريب محمد بن العلاء ، حدثنا ابو خالد ، اخبرنا سفيان ، عن معمر ، عن يحيى بن ابي كثير ، عن عبد الله بن ابي قتادة ، عن ابيه ، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " يطيل في اول ركعة من الفجر والظهر، فكنا نرى انه يفعل ذلك ليتادى الناس"
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prolong the first rak'ah of the Fajr and Dhuhr prayers. We used to think that he did this so that people could join (the prayer).
