Abu al-Bakhtari narrates that we saw the crescent of Ramadan while we were at the place of Dhat ‘Irq. He says, so we sent a man to ask Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about it, so Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said:“Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Verily, Allah the Exalted has spread out the moon for your sight. So if the moon is concealed from you by clouds, then complete the count to thirty.’”
