بَابُ مَا يُسْتَحَبُّ لِلْمُتَوَضِّئِ وَالْمُغْتَسِلِ أَنْ يَسْتَعْمِلَهُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ
Chapter on what is recommended for one performing ablution or ghusl to use of water

حدثنا محمد بن منصور بن ابي الجهم ، نا ابو حفص عمرو بن علي ، نا بشر بن المفضل ، ثنا ابو ريحانة ، عن سفينة مولى ام سلمة، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم" يوضيه المد ويغسله الصاع" .
Lady Umm Salamah’s (may Allah be pleased with her) servant, Safinah, narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution with one“mudd”of water and would perform a bath with one“sa’”of water.

حدثني محمد بن منصور بن ابي الجهم ، ثنا عمرو بن علي ، نا معاذ بن هشام ، حدثني ابي ، عن قتادة ، عن صفية بنت شيبة ، عن عائشة ، قالت:" كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يتوضا بنحو المد، ويغتسل بنحو الصاع" .
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution with approximately one "mud" of water and would perform ghusl with approximately one "sa’" of water.

حدثنا احمد بن محمد بن زياد ، وعلي بن الحسين السواق ، قالا: نا محمد بن غالب ، نا ابو عاصم موسى بن نصر الحنفي ، نا عبدة بن سليمان ، عن إسماعيل بن ابي خالد ، عن جرير بن يزيد ، عن انس بن مالك ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم" كان يتوضا برطلين، ويغتسل بالصاع ثمانية ارطال" . تفرد به موسى بن نصر، وهو ضعيف الحديث.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution with two“ratl”of water and would perform ghusl with one“sa’”— eight ratl — of water. In narrating this report, the narrator named Musa bin Nasr is unique, and he is weak.
