It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Food consisting of bread and meat was presented before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), (he partook of it), then he called for water for ablution and performed ablution and offered the Zuhr prayer, then returned and called for the leftover food and after partaking of it again went for prayer and did not perform ablution. Then I entered with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), a large bowl was placed before him here in front of us, in it was bread and meat, that bowl was placed here, in it was bread and meat, so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ate this food and then went for prayer and did not perform ablution.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suwaid bin Nu’man (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: In the year of Khaybar, we set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When we reached the place of Sahba, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the ‘Asr prayer and asked for food. Only sattu (roasted barley flour) was brought. The people ate and drank, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rinsed his mouth and stood up for the Maghrib prayer, and we also rinsed our mouths, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not even touch water (for ablution).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I, Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b, and Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with them) were sitting together. We ate food consisting of meat and bread. Then I (Anas) called for water to perform ablution. Both of them said to me: Why do you want to perform ablution? I said: Because of the food we have eaten. They said: Do you perform ablution because of eating pure things? That person, who is better than you, did not perform ablution after eating such food.

Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ate food, then the iqamah for prayer was given and he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, although he (peace and blessings be upon him) had already performed ablution before that meal. I then brought water (thinking that) he (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform ablution again, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) rebuked me and said: Move back. By Allah! This was very hard on me. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer. I presented my complaint before Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) (that this happened to me today). Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Your rebuking of Mughirah was very hard on him, and he fears that you may have something in your heart about him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is nothing in my heart about him except good. The real matter is that he brought water for my ablution, whereas I had only eaten food. Now, if I had performed ablution, then people after me would have also considered it necessary.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Is not your most favorite food the one that is cooked on fire?
