Hadith Number: 3945
It is narrated from Abu Uthman that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was on a journey. When he stopped at a place, people sent him an invitation to eat, while he was praying. He said: I am fasting. The people set the food, and when they were about to finish, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) came there. The people again invited him to eat, and this time he started eating. Seeing this situation, the people began to look with surprise at the first messenger, because he was the one who had conveyed the message of fasting. But he said: What are you looking at? By Allah! He had said that he was fasting. At that time, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: He is telling the truth. The matter is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The fasts of the month of Ramadan and then three fasts of every month are equal to the fasts of the whole year.)) Acting upon this hadith, I had already kept three fasts at the beginning of this month, so now I am breaking my fast on the basis of Allah’s concession, while I had kept the fast to attain manifold reward from Allah.

I asked: What is meant by the impurity of the chest? He said: The filth of Satan.

He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am more capable than that, I am more capable than that, so then observe two fasts every month. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Grant me permission for more than that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Grant me permission for more than that, grant me permission for more than that, so then observe three fasts every month.
