It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): When you pass away, who will be your heir? He replied: My children and my wife. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Then why can we not inherit from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He replied: Because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that indeed, a prophet is not inherited from. However, I (Abu Bakr) will take care of those whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take care of, and I will spend on everyone upon whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to spend.

Narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, his pure wives wanted to send Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), so that he could demand their inheritance from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
