Hadith Number: 6502
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever kills a lizard with the first strike will receive such and such rewards, whoever kills it with the second strike will receive such and such rewards, and whoever kills it with the third strike will receive such and such rewards.
It is narrated from Saibah, the freed slave woman of Fakah bin Mughira, that she went to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and saw a spear in her house and asked about it: O Mother of the Believers! What do you do with this spear? She said: We kill these lizards with it, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us that when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was thrown into the fire, every animal on the face of the earth tried to extinguish the fire, except for this lizard, which blew on the fire. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to kill it.
