Chapter on What Has Been Reported Regarding Hair Extensions and Oils
Hadith Number: 8139
عن سعيد بن المسيب قال خطب معاوية رضي الله عنه على منبر النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم او منبر المدينة فاخرج كبة من شعر قال ما كنت ارى ان احدا يفعل هذا غير اليهود إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم سماه الزور
It is narrated from Saeed bin Musayyib, he says: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon on the pulpit of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or the pulpit of Madinah Munawwarah, and he took out a tuft of hair and said about it: I did not know that anyone other than the Jews does this act; the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has declared this to be false.

Hadith Number: 8140
عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن انه راى معاوية رضي الله عنه يخطب على المنبر وفي يده قصة من شعر قال سمعته يقول اين علماؤكم يا اهل المدينة سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم ينهى عن مثل هذا وقال إنما عذب بنو إسرائيل حين اتخذت هذه نساؤهم
It is narrated from Humaid bin Abdur Rahman, he says: I saw Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit, while he had a tuft of hair in his hand. He said: O people of Madinah! Where are your scholars? I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding this. Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Children of Israel were punished when their women began to use such tufts of hair.
