It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: Sayyida Khawla bint Hakim (may Allah be pleased with her) came to me; she was the wife of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him). When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw her disheveled state, he said: "Aisha! What has made Khawla's condition so bad?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah! This woman has no husband." The detail of the matter is that her husband fasts during the day and prays at night (and pays no attention to his wife), so she has become as if she has no husband at all; thus, she has neglected herself and wasted herself. Upon hearing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'oon (may Allah be pleased with him). When he came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Uthman! Are you turning away from my Sunnah?" He said: "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah! Rather, I seek your Sunnah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, I sleep and I pray, I fast and I break my fast, and I marry women. O Uthman! Fear Allah, for indeed your family has a right over you, so fast and break your fast, pray and also sleep."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a group of the noble Companions came; one of them said: I will not marry, another said: I will pray and will not sleep, another said: I will fast and will not break my fast. When this matter reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: What is the matter with these people who say such things? I fast and also leave fasting, I pray and I also sleep, and I also marry women. So whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not from me.
