Abd ibn Humaid narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma‘mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Jabir.
And Abu ‘Imran Muhammad ibn Ja‘far ibn Ziyad narrated to me—and the wording is his—he informed us, Ibrahim, meaning Ibn Sa‘d, informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Sinan ibn Abi Sinan al-Du’ali, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah, who said:
“We went on an expedition with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, towards Najd. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, caught up with us in a valley with many thorny trees. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, dismounted under a tree and hung his sword on one of its branches. The people dispersed in the valley seeking shade under the trees. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘A man came to me while I was sleeping and took the sword. I woke up and he was standing over my head, and I did not realize except that the sword was drawn in his hand. He said to me:“Who will protect you from me?”I said:“Allah.”Then he said a second time:“Who will protect you from me?”I said:“Allah.”So he sheathed the sword, and here he is sitting, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not harm him.’”

Jabir bin 'Abdullah al-Ansiri, who was one amongst the Companions of Allah's Apostle ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) , reported that he went on an expedition along with Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) towards Najd and Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) stayed there, and when Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) came back he also came back along with him. They, for one day, stayed for rest; the rest of the hadith is the same.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported: We went along with Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) and as we reached the place Dhat-ur-Riqa'; the rest of the hadith is the same, but there is no mention of the word that Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) did not harm him.
