كِتَابُ التَّفْسِيرِ
Book of Tafsir (Quranic Exegesis)
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنَّمَا التَّوْبَةُ عَلَى اللهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السُّوءَ بِجَهَالَةٍ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُونَ مِنْ قَرِيبٍ فَأُولَئِكَ يَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكَانَ اللهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا * وَلَيْسَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ حَتَّى إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ إِنِّي تُبْتُ الآنَ وَلا الَّذِينَ يَمُوتُونَ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٌ أُولَئِكَ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا}
His (Allah's) saying: {Repentance is not for those who continue to do evil deeds until, when death approaches one of them, he says: Indeed, I repent now; nor for those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment}
Hadith Number: 596
نا إسماعيل بن زكريا، عن شيخ من اهل الكوفة، قال: سمعت الضحاك بن مزاحم , يقول في قوله: يتوبون من قريب سورة النساء آية 17، قال:" كل توبة قبل الموت فهو من قريب" .
Dhahhak bin Muzahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Every repentance that is made before death is considered to be 'near'."

نا عبد العزيز بن محمد ، عن زيد بن اسلم ، عن عبد الرحمن بن البيلماني ، عن رجل من اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" والذي نفسي بيده، ما من إنسان يتوب قبل ان يموت بيوم، إلا قبل الله عز وجل توبته" ، قال: فاخبرت بذلك رجلا من اصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: انت سمعت ذلك منه؟، فقلت: نعم، قال: فاشهد، لقد سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" ما من إنسان يتوب قبل ان يموت بنصف يوم، إلا قبل الله توبته"، قال: فاخبرت بذلك رجلا من اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: انت سمعت ذلك منه؟، قلت: نعم، قال: فاشهد، لسمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" ما من إنسان يتوب قبل ان يموت بضحوة إلا قبل الله توبته"، فاخبرت بذلك رجلا من اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم , فقال: انت سمعت ذلك منه؟، فقلت: نعم، فقال: اشهد، لسمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" ما من إنسان يتوب قبل ان تغرغر نفسه في شدقه، إلا قبل الله توبته".
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If any person repents one day before his death, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, accepts his repentance." The narrator says: I told this to a Companion, so he asked: "Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" I said: "Yes!" So he said: "I bear witness that I also heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever repents half a day before his death, Allah accepts his repentance.'" The narrator says: I told this to another Companion, so he asked: "Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" I said: "Yes!" So he said: "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever repents at the time of Duha (forenoon) before his death, Allah accepts his repentance.'" The narrator says: I told this to another Companion, so he asked: "Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" I said: "Yes!" So he said: "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'As long as a person's soul has not reached his throat in the final breaths, if he repents, Allah accepts his repentance.'"
