Sunan Saeed bin Mansur
كِتَابُ التَّفْسِيرِ
Book of Tafsir (Quranic Exegesis)
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنْ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ إِلا إِنَاثًا وَإِنْ يَدْعُونَ إِلا شَيْطَانًا مَرِيدًا} .
His (Allah's) saying: {They invoke none but female deities besides Him, and they [actually] invoke none but a rebellious Satan}
Hadith Number: 688
نا نوح بن قيس الحداني، عن محمد بن سيف، عن الحسن , قال: " لم يكن حي من احياء العرب إلا ولهم صنم يعبدونه يسمونه انثى بني فلان، فانزل الله عز وجل: إن يدعون من دونه إلا إناثا وإن يدعون إلا شيطانا مريدا سورة النساء آية 117" .
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Every tribe of the Arabs had an idol which they used to worship, and they would call it "the daughter of such-and-such tribe." So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "They invoke nothing but female deities besides Him, and they invoke nothing but a rebellious Satan."
