Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out towards Tabuk, he said: Only the person who possesses strength should go out with us. So a man set out riding his harsh-tempered camel, and the camel fell with him and he died. So the people began to say: Martyr, martyr. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to announce among the people that «لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا نَفْسٌ مُؤْمِنَةٌ، وَلَا يَدْخُلُهَا عَاصٍ» , meaning only the soul of a believer will enter Paradise, and a sinner will not enter. Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We have not heard anything harsher from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than this. And another hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is: «لَقَدْ ضُمَّ سَعْدٌ ضَمَّةً» , meaning Sa’d was given a severe squeeze in the grave.
