بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْجُبْنِ وَالشَّجَاعَةِ
Chapter on what is reported regarding cowardice and bravery
Hadith Number: 2532
نا نا إسماعيل بن عياش، عن ابي بكر بن ابي مريم، عن فضيل بن فضالة الهوزني، ان ابا الدرداء ، كان يقول: " لا نامت عيون الجبناء" .
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: "The eyes of cowards never sleep."

Hadith Number: 2533
نا نا إسماعيل بن عياش، عن ابن جريج، قال: حدثت عن عائشة ، انها قالت: " إذا خشي احدكم من نفسه جبنا فلا يغزو" .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "If any of you fears cowardice within himself, then he should not go out for jihad."

Hadith Number: 2534
نا نا ابو الاحوص، عن ابي إسحاق الهمداني، عن حسان العبسي، قال: قال عمر رضي الله عنه: " الجبت: السحر، والطاغوت: الشيطان، وإن الشجاعة والجبن غرائز تكون في الرجل، يقاتل الشجاع عن من لا يعرف، ويفر الجبان عن ابيه، وإن كرم الرجل دينه، وحسبه خلقه، وإن كان فارسيا او نبطيا" .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "As long as there is magic and the rebellious devil, and bravery and cowardice are in a man's nature, the brave supports a stranger and the coward flees from his own father. A man's true honor is his religion and his lineage is his character, whether he is Persian or Nabatean."

Hadith Number: 2535
نا نا ابو شهاب، عن ابي إسحاق الشيباني، عن شيخ، عن عمر ، قال:" والله لان اموت على فراشي احب إلي من ان اتقدم كتيبة فاستقبل حتى اقتل" .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah! Dying on my bed is more beloved to me than being killed while fighting in the vanguard of the army."

Hadith Number: 2536
نا هشيم ، عن يونس ، عن الحسن ، ان رجلا اراد ان يحمل على المشركين وحده، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " اتراك تقتلهم وحدك حتى تحمل اصحابك فتحمل معهم" .
A man wanted to attack the polytheists alone, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you kill them all by yourself? It is better to take your companions with you and attack along with them."
