Chapter on what is reported regarding what the Prophet took as extra
Hadith Number: 2681
نا عبد الرحمن بن ابي الزناد ، عن ابيه ، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: " تنفل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سيفه ذا الفقار يوم بدر" .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that: On the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set aside his sword "Dhu al-Fiqar" as a special gift (nafl) for himself.

Hadith Number: 2682
نا سفيان ، عن عمرو بن دينار ، عن عكرمة ، ان " سيف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذا الفقار كان لابي العاص بن منبه، فقتله رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم بدر وتسلحه" .
Sayyiduna Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that: The sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), "Dhul-Fiqar," belonged to Abu al-As bin Munabbih. The Prophet (peace be upon him) killed him on the day of Badr and took his weaponry for himself.

Hadith Number: 2683
نا عبد الله بن وهب ، قال: اخبرني عمرو بن الحارث ، عن ابي النضر ، ان عوف بن مالك الاشجعي، اتى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، إني اخاف ان لا اراك بيومي هذا، فاوصني، قال:" عليك بجبل الخمر؟" قال: وما جبل الخمر؟ قال:" ارض المحشر"، فاوصاه، ثم قال:" إياك وسرية النفل، فإنهم إن يلقوا يفروا، وإن يغنموا يغلوا" .
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik Ashja'i رضي الله عنه came to the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I fear that this is my last day, so advise me." He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Adhere to Jabal Khumr." He asked: "What is Jabal Khumr?" He صلى الله عليه وسلم replied: "It is the land of gathering (Ard al-Mahshar)." Then he صلى الله عليه وسلم advised and said: "Beware of the volunteer army, for if they meet the enemy, they will flee, and if they obtain spoils of war, they will be treacherous in it."

Hadith Number: 2684
نا سفيان، عن هشام، عن الحسن، قال: " إذا تسرت السرية بإذن الإمام، لهم ما اصابوا، وإذا تسرت السرية بغير إذنه خمسهم وكانوا كالناس" .
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "If a detachment goes out with the permission of the leader, then whatever wealth they obtain is theirs, and if they go out without permission, then their wealth will be divided into five shares and they will be equal to the common people."

Hadith Number: 2685
نا سفيان، عن منصور، عن إبراهيم، قال: " إذا تسرت السرية، فإن شاء الإمام نفلهم، وإن شاء خمسهم" .
Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "If a detachment sets out, the Imam has the choice to either give them a voluntary share from the spoils of war, or if he wishes, to take out the khums (one-fifth)."

Hadith Number: 2686
نا هشيم، قال: انا اشعث بن سوار، عن الحسن، قال: " لا تسرى السرية إلا بإذن اميرها، وما نفلهم من شيء فهو لهم" .
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "No group should set out without the permission of the leader, and whatever is given to them is their right."

Hadith Number: 2687
نا ابو عوانة، عن منصور، عن إبراهيم، في السرية تسرى، قال:" إن شاء الإمام نفلهم قبل الخمس، وإن شاء خمسهم".
Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "When a detachment sets out, the Imam may, if he wishes, give them a voluntary share before the khums, and if he wishes, he may take out the khums."

Hadith Number: 2688
نا هشيم، قال: انا يونس، عن الحسن، قال: " كان الإمام ينفل الرجل، والسرية كذلك" .
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "The Imam would grant nafl (extra share) to even a single man, and also to the entire detachment (army)."
