المُقَدِّمَةُ
Introduction
باب الاعتصام بالسنة وما يتعلق بها نقلا وأمرا وزجرا - فصل ذكر البيان بأن المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يأمر أمته بما يحتاجون إليه من أمر دينهم قولا وفعلا معا-
Chapter: Holding fast to the Sunnah – Clarification that the Prophet instructed his nation in both word and deed.
Hadith Number: 15
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن الدغولي ، حدثنا محمد بن يحيى الذهلي ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي مريم ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر بن ابي كثير ، قال: حدثني إبراهيم بن عقبة ، عن كريب مولى ابن عباس، عن ابن عباس : ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم راى خاتما من ذهب في يد رجل، فنزعه فطرحه، فقال:" يعمد احدهم إلى جمرة من النار، فيجعلها في يده" ، فقيل للرجل بعدما ذهب: خذ خاتمك، فانتفع به، فقال: لا والله لا آخذه ابدا وقد طرحه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a gold ring in a man's hand, so he removed it and put it aside. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A person goes towards a burning coal of Hell and puts it in his hand." (The narrator states) When the Prophet (peace be upon him) left, it was said to that man: Take your ring and benefit from it (i.e., sell it and use its price), but the man said: No, by Allah! I will never take it, after the Prophet (peace be upon him) has put it aside.
