المُقَدِّمَةُ
Introduction
باب الاعتصام بالسنة وما يتعلق بها نقلا وأمرا وزجرا - ذكر البيان بأن الكذب على المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم من أفرى الفرى-
Chapter: Holding fast to the Sunnah – Clarification that lying about the Prophet is among the gravest lies.
Hadith Number: 32
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: حدثني معاوية بن صالح ، عن ربيعة بن يزيد ، عن واثلة بن الاسقع ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول:" إن من اعظم الفرية ثلاثا، ان يفري الرجل على نفسه، يقول: رايت، ولم ير شيئا في المنام، او يتقول الرجل على والديه، فيدعى إلى غير ابيه، او يقول: سمع مني، ولم يسمع مني" .
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say:
Indeed, the greatest lie (he said this three times, then said:) is that a man lies about himself: that he says,“I saw such-and-such dream,”while he did not see anything in his dream; or a man falsely claims something about his parents so that he may be attributed to someone other than his father; or a person says that he heard something (i.e., a hadith) from me, while he did not hear it from me.
