Book of Righteousness and Goodness
باب الصدق والأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر - ذكر استحقاق القوم الذين لا يأمرون بالمعروف ولا ينهون عن المنكر عن قدرة منهم عليه عموم العقاب من الله جل وعلا-
Chapter on Truthfulness and Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil – Those able to enjoin good and forbid evil but neglect it deserve Allah’s general punishment.
Hadith Number: 300
اخبرنا الفضل بن الحباب ، قال: حدثنا ابو الوليد الطيالسي ، قال: حدثنا ابو الاحوص ، عن ابي إسحاق ، عن عبيد الله بن جرير، عن ابيه ، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: " ما من قوم يعمل فيهم بالمعاصي يقدرون ان يغيروا عليهم ولا يغيروا، إلا اصابهم الله بعقاب قبل ان يموتوا" .
Abdullah bin Jarir narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whenever sins begin to be committed among a people and they are able to stop them but do not do so, then Allah the Exalted sends punishment upon all of them before they die."
