باب ما جاء في الطاعات وثوابها - ذكر الإخبار عما يجب على المرء من ترك الاتكال على الصالحين في زمانه دون السعي فيما يكدون فيه من الطاعات
Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – One must not rely on the pious of his time but strive in obedience himself.
Hadith Number: 327
اخبرنا محمد بن الحسن بن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرنا يونس عن ابن شهاب ، قال: اخبرني عروة بن الزبير ان زينب بنت ابي سلمة اخبرته ان ام حبيبة بنت ابي سفيان اخبرتها ان زينب بنت جحش زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قالت: خرج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فزعا، محمرا وجهه، يقول: " لا إله إلا الله، ويل للعرب من شر قد اقترب، فتح اليوم من ردم ياجوج وماجوج مثل هذه" وحلق باصبعه الإبهام والتي تليها، قالت: فقلت: يا رسول الله انهلك وفينا الصالحون؟ قال:" نعم، إذا كثر الخبث" .
Sayyida Umm Habibah bint Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyida Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the honorable wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: Once, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came in a state of distress, his blessed face was red, and he was saying: There is no deity except Allah. Woe to the Arabs because of the evil that has drawn near. Today, a portion of the wall of "Yajuj and Majuj" has been opened this much. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated this by making a circle with his thumb and the finger next to it. Sayyida Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I asked, O Messenger of Allah! Will we be destroyed while there are righteous people among us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Yes, when evil becomes widespread, then all the people will be destroyed.
