Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – Command to be moderate in obedience, as success in the Hereafter is by Allah’s mercy, not many deeds.
Hadith Number: 350
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن الحجاج السامي ، حدثنا عبد العزيز بن مسلم ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي صالح ، عن ابي هريرة ، عن جابر ، قالا: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " سددوا وقاربوا، ولا ينجي احدا منكم عمله" قلنا: ولا انت يا رسول الله؟ قال:" ولا انا إلا ان يتغمدني الله منه برحمة" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Be upright and adopt moderation. No one's deeds will grant him salvation." We asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Not even you?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not even me, except that Allah has enveloped me in His mercy."
