Chapter on Companionship and Sitting – The reason for the prohibition of this action
Hadith Number: 584
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: حدثنا مسدد بن مسرهد ، قال: حدثنا عيسى بن يونس ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي صالح ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يتناجى اثنان دون صاحبهما، فإن ذلك يحزنه" قال ابو صالح: فقلت لابن عمر: فاربعة؟ قال: لا يضرك.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two people should not converse secretly with each other excluding their (third) companion, because this will make him sad." The narrator named Abu Salih says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): What if there are four people? He replied: Then there is no harm to you.
