Chapter of Supplications - Recommendation to begin supplication with praise of Allah
Hadith Number: 956
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون ، قال: اخبرنا شعبة ، عن مجزاة بن زاهر ، عن ابن ابي اوفى ، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: " اللهم لك الحمد ملء السماوات وملء الارض، وملء ما شئت من شيء بعد. اللهم طهرني بالثلج والبرد والماء البارد. اللهم طهرني من ذنوبي كما يطهر الثوب الابيض من الدنس" .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: "O Allah! All praise is due to You, praise that fills the heavens and fills the earth and fills whatever else You will after that. Purify me with snow, hail, and cold water. O Allah! Cleanse me of sins as a white garment is cleansed of dirt."
