Chapter on Dry Ablution – Command to limit tayammum to the hands and face with two strikes, not including the forearms
Hadith Number: 1308
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، حدثنا محمد بن المنهال الضرير ، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن زريع ، قال: حدثنا سعيد ، عن قتادة ، عن عزرة ، عن سعيد بن عبد الرحمن بن ابزى ، عن ابيه ، عن عمار بن ياسر ، قال: سالت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن التيمم، " فامرني بالوجه والكفين ضربة واحدة" ، وكان قتادة به يفتي.
Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about tayammum, so he instructed me to strike (the ground) once for the face and both arms. Qatadah gives a fatwa according to this.
