Wiping over leather socks and similar: Refuting those who claim this narration is unique to Amr ibn Umayyah al-Damri
Hadith Number: 1344
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: حدثنا ابو الوليد الطيالسي ، قال: حدثنا داود بن ابي الفرات ، عن محمد بن زيد ، عن ابي شريح ، عن ابي مسلم مولى زيد بن صوحان، قال: كنت مع سلمان الفارسي، فراى رجلا قد احدث، وهو يريد ان ينزع خفيه للوضوء، فقال له سلمان :" امسح عليهما وعلى عمامتك، فإني رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يمسح على خماره وعلى خفيه" .
Abu Muslim narrates: I was with Sayyiduna Salman al-Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him). He saw a man who had become without wudu, and as he was about to remove his socks to perform wudu, Sayyiduna Salman said to him: Wipe over them (the socks) and over your turban, for I have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his cloak and his socks.
