Impurity and its purification: A narration that misled some into thinking Ibn Uyaynah's narration is faulty
Hadith Number: 1393
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي السري ، قال: حدثنا عبد الرزاق ، قال: اخبرنا معمر ، عن الزهري ، عن سعيد بن المسيب ، عن ابي هريرة ، قال: سئل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الفارة تقع في السمن، فقال:" إن كان جامدا فالقوها وما حولها، وإن كان مائعا فلا تقربوه" ، يعني ذائبا.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about a mouse that had fallen into clarified butter (ghee). He said: If the ghee was solid, then throw away the mouse and the ghee around it, and if it was liquid, then do not go near it. (The narrator says) that is, if it was melted.
