باب صفة الصلاة - ذكر الخبر الدال على أن قوله صلى الله عليه وسلم فلا تفعلوا إلا بأم الكتاب لم يرد به الزجر عن قراءة ما وراء فاتحة الكتاب

Hadith Number: 1786
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي السري ، قال: حدثنا عبد الرزاق ، قال: اخبرنا معمر ، عن الزهري ، عن محمود بن الربيع ، عن عبادة بن الصامت ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا صلاة لمن لم يقرا بام القرآن فصاعدا" . قال ابو حاتم رضي الله عنه: قوله صلى الله عليه وسلم في خبر مكحول: فلا تفعلوا إلا بام الكتاب، لفظة زجر مراد بها ابتداء امر مستانف، وقوله: فصاعدا، تفرد به معمر، عن الزهري، دون اصحابه.
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The prayer of that person is not valid who does not recite Surah Al-Fatihah and (in addition) another Surah." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) In the narration transmitted from Mak'hool, the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Do not do so, (however, the command regarding Surah Al-Fatihah is different)," these words are of prohibition, but the intent is to give a new command from the beginning. In narrating the word "fa-sa'idan" from Zuhri, only Mu'ammar is unique; other students of Zuhri have not transmitted this word.
