Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Report refuting the claim that Qatadah did not hear this narration from Anas
Hadith Number: 1799
اخبرنا عمر بن إسماعيل بن ابي غيلان الثقفي ، والصوفي ، وغيرهما، قالوا: حدثنا علي بن الجعد ، قال: اخبرنا شعبة ، وشيبان ، عن قتادة ، قال: سمعت انس بن مالك ، قال: " صليت خلف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وابي بكر، وعمر، وعثمان رضوان الله عليهم، فلم اسمع احدا يجهر ب بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I have offered prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him), and I did not hear any one of them reciting «بِسمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ» aloud.
