Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Report indicating that the Prophet did not recite aloud in Dhuhr and Asr
Hadith Number: 1830
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا ابو خيثمة ، قال: حدثنا وكيع ، قال: حدثنا الاعمش ، عن عمارة بن عمير ، عن ابي معمر ، قال: قلنا لخباب : باي شيء كنتم تعرفون قراءة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في الظهر والعصر؟ قال:" باضطراب لحيته" . ابو معمر اسمه عبد الله بن سخبرة.
Abu Ma'mar narrates: We asked Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him), how did you people estimate the recitation of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the Zuhr and Asr prayers? He replied: Because of the movement of his (peace be upon him) beard. The narrator named Abu Ma'mar's name is Abdullah bin Sukhayrah.
