Chapter on the Obligation of Congregation and Excuses Permitting Its Omission - Satan's dominance over three people in a village if they do not pray together
Hadith Number: 2101
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، حدثنا محمد بن بكار بن الريان البغدادي ، حدثنا مروان بن معاوية ، عن زائدة بن قدامة ، عن السائب بن حبيش ، عن معدان بن ابي طلحة ، قال: سالني ابو الدرداء : اين مسكنك؟ قلت: في قرية دون حمص. قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " ما من ثلاثة في قرية ولا بدو لا تقام فيهم الصلاة إلا استحوذ عليهم الشيطان، فعليك بالجماعة، فإنما ياكل الذئب القاصية" . قال السائب: إنما يعني بالجماعة: جماعة الصلاة.
Ma’dan bin Abu Talhah narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) asked me: Where do you reside? I replied: In a village near Hims. He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Whenever there are three men in a village or in the desert and prayer is not established among them, then Satan overcomes them.”You must adhere to the congregation, for the wolf eats the sheep that is separated from the flock. The narrator named Sa’ib says: Here, congregation refers to prayer in congregation.
