Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam - Permission to shorten the prayer if someone behind has urgent needs
Hadith Number: 2139
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن المنهال الضرير ، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن زريع ، قال: حدثنا سعيد ، عن قتادة ، عن انس بن مالك ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إني لادخل في الصلاة اريد ان اطيلها، فاسمع بكاء الصبي، فاخفف مما اعلم من شدة وجد امه به" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When I begin the prayer, sometimes I intend to make it long, but then I hear the cry of a child, so I shorten the prayer because I know how much distress this causes the child's mother."
