Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – What the Imam Should Command Regarding Straightening the Rows Before Prayer
Hadith Number: 2173
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن السامي ، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن ايوب المقابري ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر ، قال: حدثني حميد الطويل ، عن انس بن مالك ، قال: اقبل علينا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بوجهه حين قام إلى الصلاة قبل ان يكبر، فقال: " اقيموا صفوفكم وتراصوا، فإني اراكم من وراء ظهري" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand to perform prayer, before saying the takbeer, he would face us and instruct: "Straighten the rows and do not leave gaps between them, for I can see you behind my back."
