Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – Where the Lone Follower Should Stand in Relation to the Imam
Hadith Number: 2196
اخبرنا محمد بن إسحاق بن إبراهيم مولى ثقيف، قال: حدثنا ابو الاشعث ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن علية ، عن ايوب ، عن عبد الله بن سعيد بن جبير ، عن ابيه ، قال: قال ابن عباس : بت عند خالتي ميمونة، " فقام النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يصلي، فقمت اصلي، فقمت عن يساره، فاخذ براسي فاقامني عن يمينه" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He spent the night at the house of his maternal aunt, Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) got up to perform prayer, so I also got up to perform prayer. I stood on his left side, so he took hold of my head and made me stand on his right side.
