Hadith Number: 2518
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد بن سلم ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرني عمرو بن الحارث ، عن ابي الزبير مولى حكيم بن حزام، عن جابر بن عبد الله انه قال: كنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في سفر، فبعثني مبعثا، فاتيته وهو يسير، فسلمت عليه فاوما بيده، ثم سلمت فاشار ولم يكلمني، فناداني بعد وقال:" إني كنت اصلي نافلة" .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were traveling with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He sent me on an errand. When I returned to him, he was riding (on his mount) and moving. I greeted him with salam, and he gestured to me with his blessed hand. Then I greeted him again, and he gestured again. He did not speak to me. After that, he called me and said: At that time, I was performing a voluntary prayer.
