فصل في قيام الليل - ذكر البيان بأن المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يصلي ما وصفناه من صلاة الليل بين العشاء والفجر بعد نومه من أول الليل
Section on night prayer – clarification that the Prophet prayed at night between ‘Isha and Fajr after sleeping at the beginning of the night
Hadith Number: 2593
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، حدثنا ابو الوليد ، حدثنا شعبة ، حدثنا ابو إسحاق ، عن الاسود ، قال: سالت عائشة عن صلاة النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بالليل، فقالت:" كان ينام اول الليل، ثم يقوم فيصلي، فإذا كان من السحر اوتر، فإن كانت له حاجة إلى اهله وإلا نام، فإذا سمع الاذان وثب، وما قالت: قام، فإن كان جنبا افاض عليه من الماء، وما قالت: اغتسل، وإلا توضا، وخرج إلى الصلاة" .
Aswad reports: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the night prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): She said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sleep in the early part of the night. Then he would wake up and perform prayer. When the time for suhoor would approach, he would perform witr. If he had any need from his wife, he would fulfill it, otherwise he would sleep. Then, when he heard the call to prayer, he would get up. If he was in a state of janabah, he would perform ghusl, otherwise he would perform wudu and proceed for the prayer. (Here the narrator has clarified some words)
