Chapter on Prostration of Forgetfulness - Narration refuting those who claim this practice was unique to Abdur Rahman al-A’raj
Hadith Number: 2680
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن محمد الدغولي ، قال: اخبرنا محمد بن يحيى الذهلي ، قال: حدثنا وهب بن جرير ، عن شعبة ، عن يحيى بن سعيد ، عن عبد الرحمن الاعرج ، وابن حبان ، عن ابن بحينة " ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى، فقام في الشفع الذي يريد ان يجلس، فسبحنا فمضى، فلما فرغ من صلاته، سجد سجدتين وهو جالس" .
Sayyiduna Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prayer. After completing two rak‘ahs, he stood up. When he was supposed to sit, we said "Subhan Allah," but he continued the prayer. When he finished the prayer and was sitting, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajda sahw).
