Section on Prayer During Travel - Narration refuting those who claim the pilgrim must complete prayers at Mina during his stay
Hadith Number: 2758
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد بن سلم ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: حدثنا ابن وهب ، قال: اخبرني عمرو بن الحارث ، عن ابن شهاب ، عن سالم بن عبد الله ، عن ابيه ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى صلاة المسافر بمنى ركعتين، وابو بكر، وعمر، وعثمان ركعتين صدرا من خلافته، ثم اتمها اربعا" .
Salim bin Abdullah narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led two rak‘ahs (units of prayer) in Mina, like the prayer of a traveler. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also led two rak‘ahs during the early part of his caliphate, but later he started leading four rak‘ahs there.
