Eid Prayers - Permission to omit voluntary prayers before and after the Eid prayer
Hadith Number: 2818
اخبرنا محمد بن احمد بن ابي عون ، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن حريث ، قال: حدثنا وكيع ، عن شعبة ، عن عدي بن ثابت ، عن سعيد بن جبير ، عن ابن عباس " ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، خرج يوم فطر، او اضحى، فصلى بالناس ركعتين، ثم انصرف، ولم يصل قبلها ولا بعدها" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) went out on the day of Eid al-Fitr, or perhaps Eid al-Adha, and he led the people in two rak‘ahs. Then, after completing the prayer, he did not perform any (optional prayer) before or after it.
