كِتَابُ الجَنَائِزِ وَمَا يَتَعَلَّقُ بِهَا مُقَدَّمًا أَوْ مُؤَخَّرًا

فصل في الموت وما يتعلق به من راحة المؤمن وبشراه وروحه وعمله والثناء عليه - ذكر الإخبار بإيجاب الله جل وعلا للميت ما أثنى عليه الناس من خير أو شر
Section on death and related matters: comfort of the believer, glad tidings, soul, deeds, and praise – Allah decrees for the deceased what people say of good or evil
Hadith Number: 3023
اخبرنا الفضل بن الحباب الجمحي ، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن حرب ، عن شعبة ، عن عبد العزيز بن صهيب ، عن انس بن مالك ، قال: مروا على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بجنازة، فاثنوا عليها شرا، فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم:" وجبت"، ومروا باخرى، فاثنوا عليها خيرا، فقال صلى الله عليه وسلم:" وجبت"، فقال عمر: يا رسول الله، ما وجبت؟ قال:" مروا بتلك، فاثنوا عليها شرا، فوجبت النار، ومروا بهذه، فاثنوا عليها خيرا فوجبت الجنة، وانتم شهداء الله في الارض" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: People passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with a funeral, and its evil was mentioned. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It has become obligatory." Then people passed by with another funeral, and the people praised it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It has become obligatory." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! What has become obligatory?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "These people passed by with him and mentioned his evil, so Hell became obligatory for him. These people passed by with him and mentioned his praise, so Paradise became obligatory for him. You are Allah's witnesses on earth."
