فصل في أحوال الميت في قبره - ذكر العلة التي من أجلها لا يسمع الناس عذاب القبر
Section on the state of the dead in the grave – The reason people do not hear the punishment of the grave
Hadith Number: 3126
اخبرنا محمد بن عبد الرحمن السامي ، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن ايوب المقابري ، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر ، قال: اخبرني حميد الطويل ، عن انس بن مالك ، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه دخل حائطا من حوائط بني النجار، فسمع صوتا من قبر، قال:" متى دفن صاحب هذا القبر؟" فقالوا: في الجاهلية، فسر بذلك، وقال: " لولا ان لا تدافنوا، لدعوت الله ان يسمعكم عذاب القبر" .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates about the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered a garden belonging to Banu Najjar. There, he (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a sound coming from a grave. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired: When was this deceased person buried? The people replied: In the time of ignorance (pre-Islamic era). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became pleased at this and said: If I did not fear that you would stop burying one another, I would have asked Allah Almighty to let you hear the punishment of the grave (its sound).
