Voluntary Charity – Clarifying That Charity to Relatives is Better Than Freeing Slaves
Hadith Number: 3343
اخبرنا ابن سلم ، حدثنا حرملة ، حدثنا ابن وهب ، اخبرني عمرو بن الحارث ، عن بكير بن عبد الله ، عن كريب ، عن ميمونة بنت الحارث ، انها اعتقت وليدة في زمان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فذكرت ذلك لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: " لو اعطيتها اخوالك كان اعظم لاجرك" .
It is narrated about Sayyida Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). In the blessed era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), she freed her slave girl. She mentioned this to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: If you had given her to your maternal uncles, it would have been more rewarding for you.
