Chapter on Sighting the Crescent - Warning against fasting Ramadan before sighting its crescent
Hadith Number: 3445
اخبرنا الحسين بن إدريس الانصاري ، قال: اخبرنا احمد بن ابي بكر ، عن مالك ، عن نافع ، عن ابن عمر ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ذكر رمضان، فقال: " لا تصوموا حتى تروا الهلال، ولا تفطروا حتى تروه، فإن غم عليكم، فاقدروا له" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Ramadan and said: Do not begin fasting until you see the new moon, and do not celebrate Eid al-Fitr until you see it. If it is cloudy for you, then complete the counting.
