Chapter on Hajj and Umrah on Behalf of Others – On the Report Refuting the Claim That This Report Was Unique to Sulayman ibn Yasar
Hadith Number: 3997
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا خلف بن هشام البزار ، قال: حدثنا ابو الاحوص ، عن سماك ، عن عكرمة ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، إن ابي شيخ كبير لا يستطيع الحج، افاحج عنه؟، قال: فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" نعم فحج عن ابيك" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old, elderly man who does not have the ability to travel for Hajj. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf? The narrator states: So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Yes! Perform Hajj on behalf of your father.
